Mako Con takes over the Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel in the city’s West End from 16–18 October for a not-for-profit, volunteer-run weekend aimed squarely at adults: cosplay, anime and gaming with adult programming, three nights of parties and an all-inclusive ticket.
What’s on
The main-stage Idol Fest runs Sunday evening with performers including hi.mawaribbon and SLVR Octave. The programme also includes a “Whose Line Is It Anime?” stage event, artist spotlights, panels, workshops, photo ops, video and board gaming, and a cosplay contest. The organisers stress “cosplay is not consent”: ask before photographing or recording attendees.
Tickets
Weekend tickets are £70 in advance through Ticket Tailor until 15 October, and everything-Idol Fest, panels, performances, gaming and parties-is included in that price. Day tickets have also been available via the organiser’s socials. The event is strictly 18+.
Staying and getting there
The Grosvenor sits opposite the Botanic Gardens near Byres Road, a short walk from Hillhead Subway. The hotel offers accessible rooms, wheelchair-accessible parking and paths to the lift, assistive listening devices, and holds Green Tourism Silver accreditation. Glasgow Queen Street and Central are both about two miles away; the airport is ten miles.
